Canal Club: Work Parties.
Stockham: Dec 07
A first in the history of Canal Club: we were rained off! Turning up at the appointed time, in the rain, Roy and I were soon joined by Jim, and the three of us stood in the rain, discussing the feasibility of working in the rain. Did I mention that it was raining?

This was a bit more than casual rain, this was bucketing down, and jolly cold too. Roy's initial thought was to leave it for a while to see if it was going to slacken off, so we stood around in the shelter of my tailgate. In the rain.

Here's Jim, sheltering under his umbrella (from the rain):

After another ten minutes of standing in the rain, lo! and behold, another car turned up - it was Mike, who joined us under the tailgate.

And here is the view from me sitting inside my car, of Mike and Roy sheltering from the rain:

By half past nine we were getting cold, and so far only Vic had turned up to join us. By quarter to ten, Roy decided that enough was enough, it was raining more heavily than ever, and we would not be likely to get anything done safely today. At this point Brian the Chairman arrived, and was quite pleased to be told "get back in your car!"

So we packed up and went home!!
